Posted by Boffill Tuesday, June 20, 2023

In the vast and diverse Marvel universe, where heroes and villains clash in epic battles, one character stands out as a relentless force of nature driven by his insatiable thirst for the hunt - Kraven the Hunter. With his formidable skills and unique backstory, Kraven has captivated readers for decades. In this blog post, we delve into the intriguing origins, complex psychology, and impact of this fascinating antihero/villain.

Kraven the Hunter, also known as Sergei Kravinoff, made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #15 in 1964. Born into Russian nobility, Kraven inherited a deep love for the hunt from his father, who trained him in the ways of tracking and combat. Kraven possesses enhanced physical attributes, including superhuman strength, speed, agility, and endurance. These attributes, coupled with his exceptional hand-to-hand combat skills, make him a formidable adversary even for superhuman opponents.

Kraven's most infamous storyline, "Kraven's Last Hunt," published in 1987, solidified his status as a complex and tragic character. In this narrative masterpiece, Kraven decides to prove himself superior to Spider-Man by capturing and seemingly killing the web-slinger. The story explores themes of mortality, obsession, and the lengths one will go to achieve their goals. The psychological depth and dark undertones in "Kraven's Last Hunt" continue to resonate with readers to this day.

Over the years, Kraven has experienced various transformations and reinventions, showcasing his adaptability as a character. Notably, in the storyline "Grim Hunt," he is resurrected through mystical means, introducing a supernatural aspect to his hunting prowess. Additionally, Kraven has been a member of the Sinister Six, a villainous group that poses a significant threat to Spider-Man and other heroes.

Kraven's unique character design and captivating storylines have made him an enduring figure in the Marvel universe. His influence extends beyond the pages of comics, as he has appeared in animated series, video games, and is set to make his live-action debut in the highly anticipated film, "Spider-Man: No Way Home." Kraven's status as a formidable and complex villain has also inspired other characters, such as the "Kraven's Daughter" storyline and the character Ana Kravinoff.

While Kraven is predominantly portrayed as a villain, his motivations and actions have occasionally blurred the lines between hero and antagonist. He possesses a code of honor, targeting only those he deems worthy of being hunted. In some instances, he has teamed up with other heroes to face greater threats, showcasing his potential for redemption and internal conflicts.

Kraven the Hunter remains a compelling and enigmatic character in the Marvel universe. From his origins as a formidable adversary to his complex psychological journey, Kraven's story has left an indelible mark on readers. Whether one admires his unyielding determination or questions the morality of his actions, there's no denying the lasting impact of this hunter-turned-villain. As Kraven's legacy continues to evolve, we eagerly anticipate the next chapter in his captivating saga.

Meet Pixel, Made by Google

Posted by Boffill Thursday, October 6, 2016
This month of October, Google officially announced their new product named Pixel. If you were a follower of Google product, Pixel might sound familiar to you because they used it before in their consumer hardware products. Pixel was created by Google from hardware to software. It boasts a 12MP camera and f/2.0 aperture to brighten up your photos and an 8MP secondary camera that can record 1080p videos. That’s not bad for a secondary camera specially to the selfie addicts. Google claimed that Pixel has the highest rate for the smartphone camera. I don’t know yet because up until today, I’m still a big fan of Nokia808 Pureview. :D

Google Assistant

I saw it in one of their Youtube videos that this phone has a built-in Google Assistant. It’s like their own version of Siri but you can chat with it. I tried Google Assistant via Allo, Google’s version of Whatsapp. You can ask the Assistant to set your reminder, schedule a meeting, ask for weather, etc.

The phone can be pre-ordered via their Google Pixel's Website and is expected to be released this coming October 20, 2016 at a price range of $769 for the 32GB variant and if you want an extra memory, it will cost $869 for the 128GB variant.

Philippine Prudential, Scam or Not?

Posted by Boffill Saturday, December 12, 2015

Philippine Prudential as we all know is a life insurance company that are known to be a scam to some people. But for me, I would definitely say they’re not. I first heard about them when their agents went to our training school and offered their life insurances. The agents were very convincing so I thought of getting one for my father. The deal is when your insured family member is beyond 65, your automatic payroll deduction will be stopped by them and the insurance policy will become null and void. My father, who was 60 years old died last February 2015. I actually forgot everything about Philippine Prudential until I checked one of my payslips and noticed that I am still being deducted by them. So I called their office and checked if what can be done to be able to claim my benefits. I was instructed to get a copy of their form from their website so I downloaded and filled it up. It took me almost a month to finish everything because there’s a form that needs to be filled up by the last attending physician of my father. So, everything went fine and I sent them the filled up forms last July. I was advised to wait for 60 days for the releasing of the check. After several calls and texts to one of their agents, they sent me the money through bank deposit but that was almost after 5 months from July. Although it took them a while to send me the benefits, I am still happy that these people can really be trusted though I really had a doubt about them before.

This are the screenshots I took while checking my LandBank Account via Mobile

I read about different blog posts over the Internet about Philippine Prudential and some people are really frustrated. Everybody has different stories like they were invited to the Company’s Store and others were visited by an agent while others are being called over the phone, but one thing is for sure, these people are not scammer. They are actually being listed by the Philippine Insurance Commission as one of the Licensed Insurance Company that can operate in the Philippines.

My New Old Model Chromecast

Posted by Boffill Thursday, December 10, 2015

So, I’m sure to some it’s an old gadget to brag about but I’m new to this and this is my first time using it. I heard about Chromecast when a friend of mine posted it on his Facebook that he has one. I inquired everything about it but didn’t really think of owning one because I don’t have a TV yet in my room back then. That was like a year ago from today. Last week, this friend of mine posted a new photo of his Chromecast 2, the latest model and I was still curious about it so I inquired about it again. After doing a little bit of research about it, I think I’ll love this little HDMI Dongle because I really love to watch movie on my TV with my Pioneer Home Theatre attached to it. This very friend of mine told me that he has a spare one but the 1st generation of Chromecast that is. It didn’t really bothered me owning an old model because I love the idea of not connecting my laptop directly to my TV via HDMI, a wireless connection between them is cool. So, after I sent him the money, my New Old Model Chromecast arrived and immediately tried it. Setting it up was easy, you just have to connect your Android Phone or iPhone and your Chromecast to the same network and set your WLAN Password and that’s it, you can enjoy watching Youtube videos or videos saved on your local disk, streaming music, viewing photos and etc. So, all I can say is that it’s a good deal buying a Chromecast dongle if you enjoy watching movies a lot. Just last night, I tried the one month free trial of iFlix (well, we don’t have Netflix here in the Philippines) and everything seems to be working fine with them and the Chromecast. So, if you love to watch movie and have the feeling that it’s a bit of a hassle connecting laptop to the TV or maybe plugging in a USB Stick to the TV, Chromecast is a good buy for you people. Thanks and Cheers!

MyPhone Rio Dual Sim Unboxing and First Impression

Posted by Boffill Saturday, July 12, 2014

A colleague of mine bought her first ever budget Smartphone because her old Nokia C3 Phone doesn’t seem to work fine anymore. We both researched online on what could be the best choice and she decided to buy the MyPhone Rio. I am never really a fan of MyPhone because maybe of the stereotypes regarding local brands. Then came the phone she bought online. She brought it to me because she thought I was an expert (Haha!). While checking the phone, I was actually impressed by its bright orange color. I think it has other color variants like the yellow, blue and black. It really is colourful from the cover up to the themes provided by MyPhone. I wish I could port its colourful widgets to my Sony Xperia Z but I think that’s not possible. 1.3GHz Quad-core powered Budget Smartphone with 5” HD IPS Display, I like it. But with a resolution like that, I sometimes feel like the phone is lag. With regard to its camera, I’d rate it from 5 out of 10. It has an 8MP rear camera with AutoFocus and a 2MP at the front. I owned a Nokia N82 before and it has an 8MP camera on it and I think Rio’s camera is far from my old phone. Well, it is still a good deal for a 5k worth of Smartphone though. Maybe I just didn’t have enough time to play with the camera because the owner was really excited with her new phone. I'll get back to her phone to root it and maybe install some helpful applications. Oh, and I forgot that it’s a dual SIM phone with dual standby feature and is packed with Android Jellybean. Well anyway, I would still recommend it to those who are in tight budget but wants a Quad Core and a big resolution phone. MyPhone actually changed my impression regarding local brands and I’m starting to like it now. This phone can actually compete to its rivals on its bracket.

Replacement of my Sony Xperia Z LCD Screen and Monogram Case

Posted by Boffill Monday, June 30, 2014
See the cracks?

Due to my desperation on getting a new case for my SonyXperia Z, I stumbled upon this interesting online shop that offers personalized casing for most mobile phones available in the market today. I never mentioned to you before that my Sony Xperia Z’s LCD screen glass was broken and there’s no way for me to use the touch screen. It all happened when me and my girlfriend travelled to Tacloban, I totally forgot that my phone was at my back pocket. When we arrived in Tacloban, I took my phone and was shocked after seeing my phone broken. The next day, I travelled to Manila to watch the BoneThugs-N-Harmony concert at SM Mall of Asia Arena but before the concert, I went to Quiapo to find someone to fix my phone. It was hell of a pricy LCD screen for me but what can I do, I’m gonna have it fixed before the concert because I don’t have any time available the next day. My phone was fixed after a few hours of waiting. You’re gonna have to wait because you know, they kept telling me that cellphone technicians remove original parts from your phone and replace it with class A.

Anyway, I am now searching online to see if there are more durable, more reliable and at the same time fancy mobile phone case for my Sony Xperia Z and I was able to stumble Simply Monogram. It’s an online store about mobile phone case but most of the cases available from their website are iPhoneCase and Samsung Galaxy Cases. The fact that most Filipino cellphone users are in to iPhone and Samsung, I just thought of recommending this online shop especially to my colleagues.

You can go ahead and check Simply Monogram for your personalized casing. Well yes, you read that right, you can request for a personalized case from them to show off your unique style and personality! All their items are hand crafted and are made to order so basically, you should give them an ample time to make your personalized monogram case.

Google Play Services 5.0.81 update, a Battery Fix for Xperia?

Posted by Boffill Saturday, June 28, 2014

Last night, somebody online gave a link to an updated version of the Google Play Services and says it could be the fix to the battery problem for Xperia Z. In just a matter of week, two software updates became available for the Sony Xperia Z users and I am very much hoping that this can fix the bugs I have been experiencing after the Kitkat update. Sony recognized this issue and said that it is Google Play Services that drains the battery fast. They suggested downgrading the Google Play Services to the previous version to fix the problem. When somebody provided a link to the update, I didn’t actually download it because I wanted wait for the feedback of other users who are willing to install this update. For now, I am quite impressed on my battery’s performance since it can last for more than a day sometimes depending on my use. Well, if you’re interested to download the Google Play Services update, you can go ahead and check the link below and try it out yourself.

How to ROOT your Android Device the EASIEST and QUICKEST WAY

Posted by Boffill Friday, June 27, 2014

For quite a long time, I have been searching online the easiest and quickest way to ROOT my Android powered Sony Xperia Z but I haven’t seen any. Most search results that I found was to download big sized applications to install in my computer and stuff like that. Not until a fellow Xperia Z user introduced me to TowelRoot. It is an APK file that you can download from their website and install it on your mobile phone. Once installed, you open the application and hit the button that says “Make it Rain”. After hitting that button, voila! Your phone is now ROOT and you can now start installing apps that requires root like the SuperSU, Greenify, etc. TowelRoot is not guaranteed working on all types of device but you can go ahead and try it yourself and check if this will work on your phone.

My Sony Xperia Z gets .233 update, a Battery Bug Fix?

Posted by Boffill

Last May, Sony have been rolling out the Kitkat update for the Xperia line of phones. It was an update that most users have been waiting for their device and was expecting a very nice improvement from the previous version’s bugs. Me, I have received the update probably 3rd week of May and updated my phone immediately and checked if there is really a big difference from Jellybean to Kitkat. I was actually glad that I was able to receive the update early compared to some Filipino Xperia Z users who haven’t received the update until 1st week of June. Truly there are some improvements like the notification bar, the GUI, etc. After the update, I only noticed one big issue about my phone, the Kitkat update sucks up the battery and will last only for about 3-4 hours from full charge. I was not expecting this bug. It is really a huge problem and I think Sony should do something about it. Sony recognized the issue from their website blaming the Google Play Services that causes the problem so their initial remedy was to let their users remove the update of Google Play Services. I did it on my phone but no avail. I’ve searched online for the fix regarding this issue and there are a lot of tips being offered. There’s even a dedicated application claiming to fix the problem but still no avail. The only solution I ever think of was to downgrade from Kitkat to Jellybean but the problem is I don’t have any idea how to downgrade a Stock ROM. I haven’t tried it yet to an Android phone. Compared to Nokia’s Symbian, upgrading or downgrading (flashing) the phone is too easy but when it comes to Android, it is a bit complicated for me. So, downgrading my phone to Jellybean won’t help me. I just tried some tips online like removing the % on the battery icon, unticking the notification on every application, Greenifying apps, etc. Right now, I’m a bit happy with the result after trying the tips online but I think I deserve something better than this. I think Sony should fix this problem.

Just recently, .233 update was rolled out again to Sony Xperia users. It’s just a 59mb sized update and I think its Sony’s answer to their customer’s questions. I downloaded the update and installed it. After updating my phone, I don’t know if something has changed, I never revert back my settings to original because I’m afraid I will be experiencing the same problem again. I’ll just search again for the changelogs about this new update. I just hope it is indeed the bug fix. I’ll update this post as soon as I found out what’s with this new update from Sony.

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony Benefit Concert in Manila 2014

Posted by Boffill Saturday, June 14, 2014
I belong to this click, a gang of 10 who are all fan of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony
Truly a dream come true when the legendary US based rap group, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, performed in front of my naked eye. Yes, you heard that right, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony had a concert at SM Mall of Asia Arena last June 11, 2014 and it was a hell of a night for me. I came all the way to Manila from Leyte just to watch this epic concert. I have been dreaming about it since the day I first heard about Bone Thugs-n-Harmony during my elementary days. They’re my influence and idol ever since 1995 and have been collecting CDs and Cassette Tapes back in the days. So when I heard about the concert, I immediately grab the chance and bought the SVIP ticket and a round trip ticket to Manila and back to Leyte. Another thing that I’m proud of about this concert is that it’s a benefit concert for the Typhoon Haiyan (a.k.a. Yolanda) victims at Tacloban and other parts of Leyte. The thought of being a victim of the said typhoon makes me really want to watch the concert more. During the concert day, I came to the venue as early as 2pm though the gate opens at 7pm. Well, I’m an SVIP ticket holder and the organizer announced that we have a privilege to watch the members of Bone doing their sound check and also a meet and greet at Solaire. I was really glad that I was able to step on a stage with them and watch them perform during the sound check and was able to take a picture of them too. After the sound checking was a meet and greet at Solaire but the Layzie and Krayie are already tired because the night before the concert was the Philippine Urban Music Awards and Bone Thugs are the special guest during the Awards night. We the SVIP ticket holders understood the situation and just went to the SM Mall of Asia to have our dinner so we won’t be disturbed by an empty stomach during the concert.

The original Thug on da Line, Leathaface a.k.a. Krayzie Bone
Before the concert started, local Rap artists like Gloc-9 and Blaze-n-Kane performed with their hit songs. After the local artists are performances from Pozition of The Life Ent and Sloan Bone representing Mo Thugs. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony members Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone and Wish Bone went up stage and performed their hit singles like Days of our Lives, Look Into My Eyes, Weed Song, Thug Luv, Notorious Thugs, For the Love of $, Crossroads and a lot more performances that are too many to mention. After hours of performances from Bone, they held an After Party the Eclipse of Solaire. I never stayed for long there though because I have an early flight the next day going back to Tacloban. Here are some of the photos and videos I took during the concert day.

Magnetic Macro Lens and Wide Angle Lens for Mobile Phone

Posted by Boffill Wednesday, March 5, 2014
I have been a mobile photography enthusiast since the dawn of camera phone and for quite a long time, I have been searching for accessories to enhance my skills and also to enhance my photos so I could produce pleasing shots. Right now, I own a tripod for mobile phones and just recently, I bought a macro and wide angle lens for my mobile phones. These lenses are not the same as the Jelly Lens I posted here few years back. It’s a magnetic lens that you attach at the back of your phone. It also has an adhesive ring if your phone doesn’t hold the magnet. What’s so good about it is that you can remove it anytime you want and attach it again in times of action. You just have to leave the adhesive ring attached on it. It comes with two adhesive rings so you still have a reserve ring or you can attach the other ring on another phone just like I did. One ring is attached to my Nokia 808 Pureview phone and the other ring is attached to my Sony Xperia Z phone. If you want to order this lens, just email Heylarr and tell her that you were referred by Boffill of BoffillBernardes.com.

Image borrowed from GeoAwesomeNess

A lot of us are sometimes dumb (I’m sorry for the word) to lost our personal belongings especially mobile phones. Personally, I haven’t experienced losing a phone yet and I don’t want to experience it. Right now, I own three mobile phones with different OS’s. Since Android is the most common platform most people are using today, I am gonna share to you guys this very helpful Android Application that I found at Google Play. It’s called Android Lost and it has all the features you can get from other free anti-theft application but with added features like the one from the premium accounts. I’m gonna list down below the main features that you can get from this application and also its advantages.

Though I haven't lost a phone yet, I tried the features of this phone and it was all working very great. Check out their website for more information and you can also download the application from Google Play. Since it's free and I can't donate thru Paypal, my way of showing gratitude to the owner of the app is by clicking it's Ads. I really recommend this to all Android phone users out there.

Alcatel OneTouch Inspire 2 from Smart Wireless Center

Posted by Boffill Tuesday, June 4, 2013
Yesterday, I was able to retain my account from Smart Postpaid and I was offered a free phone. My choices are Lenovo A690, Samsung Galaxy Y, LG L3 and the Alcatel OneTouch Inspire 2. I checked every phone from their physical appearance and specifications and I think I’m having a huge crush with the Alcatel OneTouch Inspire 2. It has 5.0 Megapixel camera at the back and a VGA at the front. It runs with Jellybean (Android 4.1) in 512MB RAM. Well, it doesn’t really have enough RAM but I think it’s still good.

So I told the customer representative that I like the Alcatel phone and so she issued me one. I was on my way back home when I fully tried the phone myself. It was on my way home when I discovered something bad about the phone, its touch screen doesn’t work that well. When you press an icon, you’re gonna have to long press it until you open the app. When you text, it will take you a minute to type just the first few letters of the word and it’s really frustrating. It was nice holding the phone but with its screen, I’m very frustrated. I think I’m gonna bring it back to Smart Wireless Center and see if they can do something about it. I just hope I could change the unit maybe to Lenovo A690. I’ll keep you guys posted for the update regarding the issue. Cheers!

Update 06/14/2013: I went back to Smart Wireless Center last week on Wednesday June 5 and brought with me the phone they gave me. I went directly to the teller and told her about my issue (same teller as before). She just told me that the phone doesn't have a problem and its just the way it is which I disagreed about because how are you gonna use a phone with long press buttons on it specially during emergency. I asked her to just change the unit to the Lenovo A690 but she refused and told me to just change the unit with the same brand and model. The first item she showed me has the same problem with my old one. The third one, she told me to check on it and I was happy because long press button are now absent on this particular phone. So I told her that I'll get the third unit and she agreed. Now I know I'm not wrong when I told them about the phone's problem. Thanks Smart for letting me change my phone.

Globe Bug Sim For Sale

Posted by Boffill Monday, March 4, 2013
A few weeks back, I mentioned about the glitch on Globe’s unlimited internet promos. I have seen online that there are still a lot of people who are able to take advantage of this and were able to get a free connection from Globe thru bugging their sim card. I’d say these people are still lucky that they weren’t caught by Globe Telecoms yet. One thing is for sure, Globe is making their best to fix this issue.
Globe Bug Sim

On an online community where I am a bit active, I have seen lots of users who are even abusing this problem by selling their bugged sim cards. I tried googling about this issue and I think it’s not only from the forum I’m on that it’s very rampant. Even on the other online forum, selling of bugged sim cards is very common. Selling of Globe bugged sim is not only common from online forum but also to some online selling portal like Sulit.
Globe Bug Sim For Sale

I think they shouldn’t be doing this if they would still want to enjoy this free connection they get from Globe. Globe bugging tools are enough I suppose. Maybe they should just share the process on how to bug Globe’s sim card instead of selling it. There is a big probability that Globe Telecoms is already aware about this issue and I think they are handling the situation. Some guys online should learn what low profile is.
