Communication plays a major role in every human life. Every single being has its own way of communicating. A Baby will cry if she's hungry or sleepy. That is how she gets attention from her mother. Here in the Philippines, there are a lot of dialects being spoken in every provinces. People from Davao speaks Bisaya with a bit of Tagalog while people in Cebu speaks Cebuano that I consider deep Bisaya. People in Iloilo speaks Ilonggo while in Bicol they use Bicolano. But what if a native Bisaya will visit Iloilo or in my case, Tacloban? I am currently here in Tacloban and I don't speak Waray. I am staying at my uncle's house and we do really have a problem with the dialects we speak. There's a Language Barrier between me and them. I speak Bisaya, Tagalog and Ilonggo but not Waray. So when I'm at home, I don't normally speak to them. Well, they could understand a bit of bisaya and vice versa, I understand a bit of Waray. Waray is very unique and I want to learn how to speak waray. Waray for me is a combination of Ilonggo and Bisaya but some of the words are not found in Ilonggo or Bisaya Dictionary so its a bit hard. One of my problem too is that even if you use tagalog to communicate with them, they won't bother and they would still use Waray to communicate with you. I experienced this a lot of times when I'm outside. Well, I just thought that maybe people from Tacloban are very patriotic. I know this is a bit hard for me because I'm the visitor and I'm the one who's suppose to adjust to the new environment so the solution is to learn to speak Waray. I'll be spending weeks here and I think that's enough for me to learn the dialect.
